Pager Explosions
Beirut, Lebanon – A series of coordinated explosions involving pagers used by Hezbollah members across Lebanon on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least nine people and injuries to thousands. The militant group immediately accused Israel of being behind the attacks, vowing to retaliate.
The Lebanese Information Minister, Ziad Makary, condemned the incident as an “Israeli aggression.” Hezbollah echoed his sentiments, stating that Israel would “receive its fair punishment” for the blasts. The Israeli military, however, denied any involvement in the explosions.
The pagers, which are commonly used by Hezbollah and others in Lebanon for communication, detonated in various locations, including Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and the eastern Bekaa Valley.
According to reports, the explosive material was concealed within the pagers, likely planted during the manufacturing process. The devices were remotely triggered, causing devastating damage.

The incident has significantly escalated tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been engaged in a series of cross-border skirmishes. The Palestinian militant group Hamas, currently at war with Israel in Gaza, also condemned the pager blasts, calling it an “escalation” that would only lead to Israel’s “failure and defeat.”
The United Nations and several countries expressed deep concern over the attacks, calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The United States, while denying involvement, urged Iran not to exploit the situation to increase instability in the region.
Hezbollah has been using pagers as a low-tech means of communication to evade Israeli surveillance. The explosions have caused widespread panic and disruption in Lebanon, with many people fleeing their homes and seeking medical attention.
The incident is expected to further complicate the already tense situation between Israel and Hezbollah and could potentially lead to a wider conflict.
